Join us for an hour as we chat with members of the Big City Burlesque and Vaudeville Troupe. Learn the history and future of this wonderful artform. CSTM003 Patterns in the Chaos - How to Create and Draft Description: Another look at the process of costume design from drawing to drafting. Learn the techniques of simple pattern creation, hear stories, and ask questions as well. CSTM004 Material Possessions - ABC's of Basic Fabrics Description: From Anime to Amazons--Discuss the different types of fibers, fabrics, and coverings that can be used to create any type of character. How do you prepare fabrics, dye, use, or just choose them? And where can the good stuff be found?? And in depth look. CSTM005 Costuming Contest - PreJudge Description: Taking place in the Marriott Track Room or a room close to the contest, all entrants are required to have their costume pre-approved and prejudged by our panel. This is where judges ask questions and give it the final look. CSTM006 The 2008 Costuming Contest Description: Just as started 2 years ago, this contest celebrates the construction methods and workmanship of area costumers and convention attendees. We are less concerned with presentation and skit, just show us your skills. MMO Costume Contest Description: Costume Contest and panel to showcase the MMO costumes and how they can be built. Add pizzazz to your World of Warcraft costume, or just ask a few questions about how or where to get parts. Filling Your Plate - Creating Armor for SCA or Renn Faires Description: Join Ackbar and our panel as we discuss methods to create metal plate armor and chainmaille for SCA and Renn Faire usage. Also hosting a contest for best armor creation. CSTM009 Who Was That Dummy I Saw You With?? Description: After a few years of discussion and requests, join us as we present a hands-on seminar focused on the creation of the masking-tape body form. Join us as we learn the methods for building a simple dress form to create your designs at home. Description: With more costumes leaning towards armor and layered pieces, vacu-forming is becoming a better/cheaper alternative for costume creation and weight considerations. Learn techniques to create your own vacu-box and sculpting talents to make your new designs.. CSTM011 Making Costumes a Cinch - Corseting 101 Description: The professors are at it again as we bring back this VERY popular panel on the design and creation of corsets. A definite hands-on class for those with an interest in creating their own corsets or just learning how to. CSTM012 When Costumes Take Wing Description: Requested year after year, join Jessica and the lovely Cruxshadows fairies to discuss techniques for designing and building costumes with wings. Whether for outdoor use, convention wearing, or performance; this panel is a must. CSTM013 It Is Burlesque, Not Drag - Learning the Techniques of Burlesque Description: Join Audrey and Big City Burlesque again as they demonstrate the techniques of burlesque show design in costume, wig, and makeup. A definite plus to see before the BIG show at 11pm. CSTM014 The Pirate's Life for Me - Bucaneer Costuming Description: This year we bring a few experts from the nation's Renaissance Faires to discuss the how-to's of creating and assessorising the perfect pirate look. Captain Jack would be proud. CSTM015 Dragon After Dark Costume Contest: Pre-Qualification Description: A must attend event for all contestants. This is the last chance for all contestants to get last minute tips and repairs for their costumes and a chance to be viewed for appropriatemess and content. If you do not pre-qualify you cannot enter the contest. CSTM016 Dragon After Dark Contest Description: This contest is to show off those costumes that would not be otherwise allowed in the more "family-oriented" Masquerade. Whether your entry is adult themed, Anime, horror, or just something for more respectful adult audiences, this is where you show off. CSTM017 Finding a Little Wiggle Room Description: Whether you are designing for performance or for a quiet evening at home, dancewear can be as fun as it can be upsetting. Join us as we talk about the process of designing for the drum circle, the Renn Faire, or to catch that special someone's eye. Going Boldly... The Costumes of Star Trek Description: With the new J. J, Abrams film rapidly approaching and the success of Star Trek: New Voyages/Phase II; we take a look at the techniques of designing and building costumes and makeup for the final frontier. CSTM019 Casting Calls - Putting the Life (Cast) in Mask Making Description: Always a popular panel, join us as we teach the hands-on techniques of life casting and mask building for film, TV, or convention use. CSTM020 The Stylish Embrace and Waist Training - The Wear and Feeding of Your Corset Description: Corseting is not a talent to be learned in one panel. So we bring back our crew from the college circuit to show us the care and maintenance that you and your corset need to ensure long lasting life. CSTM021 Say It With Spray Paint - The Art of Airbrushing Description: Becoming more popular with every year, this year we bring the hands-on technique of airbrushing to our panel. Come out and learn the techniques and tools you need for proper airbrush art in makeup. CSTM022 Taking a Bite - The Unconventional Methods Description: Focusing on prosthetics in teeth and eyes, we again want to look at the trouble and techniques that are available for making dental prosthetics and when purchasing contact lenses. You Are Going Straight... to PURGATORY Description: Focusing on the "after-dark" themes, this panel discusses some of the non-family oriented themes of costuming while also speaking about the growing need for costuming in groups like late-night LARP, Purgatory, etc. Also a chance to look again into the growing Goth culture. Putting Your Face On - The Ancient Arts of Masks Description: We again look into the creation of traditional maqsks using materials old and new. Whether you design for live stage or outdoor performances, this is a must see panel. CSTM025 Disasters IN Costuming Description: We all make mistakes, but we now want to turn our attentions to safety issues that can occur when you are wearing your costume. Whether fire, flood, or famine, sometimes only your design will differentiate bystander from well-dressed victim. CSTM026 Plans for the Future - The Hands ON Approach Description: Whether it is Projedct Dragon or mask creation, hands-on can be a much more valuable tool than panels. Let's look at the reality of future plans and what we each need to do to make it happen. CSTM027 The Sewing Circle - Your Local ICG Chapter Description: We end this year by lookiing at the various groups and organizations that may be in your own area to help you with your designs and creations. Also a good place to get your final resource list. |
