Dragon Con’s Cosplay Charity Auction is a great place to get new (or gently used) costumes, props, accessories, or make-up components that could be the perfect must-have item to complete a cosplay look. This auction started in 2013 and is held biennially on odd number years (2015, 2017, 2019, etc.) So far, it has been incredibly successful on all fronts:
- with costumers either outgrowing their costuming pieces (or whole costumes) or falling out of love with a given genre, naturally they would like to see their original works go to a good home. They can champion a great cause by donating their costumes and components and have the joy of knowing that their work is still being displayed around the con circuit rather than sitting unused in storage.
- bidders (whether they are less construction savvy or simply don’t want to re-invent the wheel-after all why build something if it is already done?) can purchase quality goods for their cosplay projects at a great price and know that 100% of their money goes to Dragon Con’s charity of choice for that year.
- the charities benefit by turning funds raised into valuable research, treatments, etc.
Needless to say, everybody wins.
Our 2015 auction is being held on Saturday, September 5 @ 2:30p in the Hyatt Regency, Hanover C-E Halls (on the Exhibit Floor Level.)
