Volunteers Needed

Costuming Track is an all volunteer ran team. Our volunteers are our lifeline and without them we can’t provide the quality of programming and events that audiences have come to expect from this track. As they say in theatre, there are no small parts. It’s not difficult work, there’s simply a lot of organizing that needs to be done. -But if you are as big of a costuming geek as the rest of us you will have a blast!

Costuming Track is currently seeking volunteers for the following positions:

The Docent aids in achieving the overall success of the Exhibit with the guidance of the Exhibit Coordinator.

This portion of the show has become a critical component of the Costuming Track and a weekend highlight for many con-goers. It is a rewarding opportunity to be a part of directly shaping the audience experience.

The ideal candidate has home access to basic computing and internet; and possesses above average document editing skills, a sharp eye for detail, good customer service skills, and works well both as a team and alone. Google Drive experience is preferred (gmail, documents, sheets, etc) but will train the right candidate.

Reports to the Exhibit Coordinator.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Aids the Coordinator with pre- and post-show Exhibit planning and logistics in the months leading up to and immediately following Dragon Con
  • Edits exhibit signage, corrects misspelled words, grammatical errors, and weak sentence structure
  • On site Exhibit planning and execution as directed by the Coordinator
  • Assists with show setup and strike
  • Provides museum docent duties
  • Ensures quality and security of exhibit pieces and signage
  • Greets exhibitors and assigns peripherals as needed
  • Provides customer service to exhibitors and audience alike
  • Promotes exhibit in advance of the con and during con
  • Routinely posts exhibit information and teasers to track social media
  • Miscellaneous tasks as need arises
  • Participates in routine pre-, post-, and during con meetings established by the Coordinator and Track Director
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by the track director or director’s assistant unrelated to the workshop rooms such as outside setup/strike assistance and main event execution

The Workshops Administrator aids in achieving the overall success of Costuming Tracks workshops, close-up demonstrations, and Headless Lounge (a costumer refreshment lounge) with the guidance of the Workshops Coordinator.

With a host of highly anticipated events, the Workshops Administrator has the opportunity to not only shape audience experience, but to also aid the Coordinator with shaping policies and procedures given the early-development nature of this sector of Costuming Track.

Candidates must have home access to basic computing and internet,  possess friendly customer service skills, an ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing both in and out of a 'class room' setting, and a team player attitude.

Reports to the Workshops Coordinator

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Aids the Coordinator with pre- and post-show planning and logistics in the months leading up to and immediately following Dragon Con.
  • On site planning and execution of workshop room events as directed by the Coordinator
  • Assists with show setup and strike
  • Emails registrants with confirmation and payment instructions in the months leading up to con.
  • Routinely promotes events and contributes to posts and teasers in social media
  • Manages rooms in the absence of the Coordinator
  • Collects logistical information for demos and headless lounge in advance of the con
  • Assists with the Panels Room (the lecture room) while acting as host of headless lounge
  • Ensures accuracy of information on website and social media
  • Participates in routine pre-, post-, and during con meetings established by the Coordinator and Track Director
  • Miscellaneous tasks as need arises
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by the track director or director’s assistant unrelated to the workshop rooms such as outside setup/strike assistance and main event execution
