Exhibit Gets a Makeover for 2016

Since 2011, Costuming Track has been host to some of the most fascinating costumes from the most brilliant costumers at Dragon Con. Thousands of fans have passed through the track room doors each year to marvel the spectacle and the ingenuity.

For fans of the Costuming Exhibit, this year we are expanding: space, selection, and viewing hours. The Exhibit is being moved out of the track room and into it’s own space next door, where we have the flexibility to add nearly double the costumes and offer expanded viewing times. (No more squeezing in a viewing in between panels!)

Whether you are looking for a little inspiration or just enjoy beautiful costuming (…or perhaps you are looking for someone to build a commissioned work) then this exhibit is a must see.  This years exhibit is held in the Hilton room 301 and the hours are:

  • Fri 11:30 am – 8:00 pm
  • Sat 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
  • Sun 11:30 am – 8:00 pm
  • Mon 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Many thanks go out to our featured costumers. By allowing us to display their costuming art, Costuming Track is positioned to provide an experience that is unique within Dragon Con.

We take submissions for the exhibit from June 1 until August 15 for display the following Labor Day weekend. If you wish to feature one of your costumes in this years exhibit, we ask that you complete the registration below so that we may properly host your work.

Here are some of our more commonly asked questions regarding the Costuming Exhibit:

Q: Why would I want to display my costume?
A: This is a chance for the wonderful and grateful fans of the costuming track to see your work up close. It may be a costume you made for another event or show or photo shoot or one that you wore last year for a costume contest or event at Dragon Con. All works accepted for the exhibit are exceptional and we draw several thousand viewers over the course of the weekend. Doesn’t your amazing work deserve to be seen again?

Q: When do I need to deliver it and when do I pick it up?
A: Once accepted a set up and take down ‘appointment’ will be arranged with you. In general, set up is Thursday evening and Friday morning.  Disassembly is after 1:00 pm on Monday.

Q: Will my costume be safe?
A: As safe as possible. The room is staffed when open and locked when not in use. Most items will be connected to a motion alarm and/or cable locked.

Q: What if I did not make the whole costume alone?
A: Collaborations are very welcome. Please make sure to give credit to all involved in the making of the costume for their work.

Q: Can I get it back for a party or costume contest?
A: No. We want folks attending one day and time to see the same exhibit that folks would see at a different day and time. Costumes need to be on display for the entire show. If you want to wear your costume this year, please consider applying for the exhibit with that costume next year.

(Sorry, exhibition registration is closed for 2016)
